Love Notes: Women in Harmony exploring aspects of love thru song

30 June 2019 $10 Members $15 Non-members $5 Students with ID

Women in Harmony is a Christchurch community choir singing 3 part harmony, with a wide repertoire of world music. We are primarily an a capella choir, but we like to capitalize on the musicians among our members, occasionally adding the accompaniment of guitar, ukulele, or percussion; or the keyboard of our exuberant director, jazz pianist Mary Ruston.

We perform at folk clubs and a wide variety of community events. Our concerts are threaded with fun, humour and laughter. And this concert, ‘Love Notes’, is no exception. The programme includes solo spots from some of the choir’s seasoned Folk Club performers, including Judi Smitheram, Eileen Reid and Kristina Godfrey.

Love love love… it seems everybody’s singing about it, and not surprisingly. Love has the power to affect us in the most profound ways. In this mid-year concert Women in Harmony explores the many aspects of love through an eclectic selection of songs from all genres including country and folk – some are sad or sentimental, some speak of spiritual love, and others are simply sweet or slightly silly. We hope there’s lots in our choice of love songs that will strike the right note….
