The Manuka Hunnies

Sweet and edgy vocals, spirited and inventive fingerstyle/slide guitar, original songs and compositions - This is the Christchurch-based Manuka Hunnies, the musical collaboration of award-winning songwriter, Lynette Diaz and award-winning fingerstyle guitarist, Susan L. Grant.

Originally conceptualised in 2010 as an all-female collective of musicians, founding members, Susan and Lynette, have remained the roots of this free flowing Alt-Folk/Alt-Country/Americana creation. In May 2018, the Manuka Hunnies will strip it back to the beginnings and feature a night of intimate and introspective songs from their song catalogue.

We've added some 'Hunnies' to the line-up, including Sophia Bidwell (Accordion/Harmonies) and Alex Bidwell (Cello/Harmonies), Nicole Reddington (Cello) and Argene Flack (Bodhrán/Whistle), alongside Susan L Grant (slide/fingerstyle guitar) and Lynette Diaz (Vocals/guitar/percussion).

Susan L. Grant will take the audience on a journey throughout the evening, featuring original guitar compositions from her long awaited and soon-to-be-released CD.

Magic happens when this pairing take the stage with original songs of love and redemption, kindness and absolution written by Lynette Diaz. From seasoned tunes and new material, interspersed with a very select number of Manuka Hunnies infused cover songs. Expect to walk back into the night’s air with a sense of thoughtful wonder.
