Port Hillbiliies, Bluegrass and Americana Music

In 1955 Gary Elford was just a baby meanwhile Kris Brown, Justin Rogers and Steve Stern were yet to exist.

Ten years before, in late 1945 Bluegrass music was making its roots when the father of Bluegrass, Bill Munroe morphed the genre from the Old Timey music of Appalachia.

Jump forward to 1980-present and Bluegrass still has a major influence in Americana music. The Port Hillbillies have formed into a tight-knit group of friends and musicians who showcase all aspects of the genres, from the toe tapping recognizable standards to the more obscure songs. With Gary on the acoustic bass, Justin on the mandolin, Kris on the guitar and Steve on the banjo this is surely a night not to be missed.

This concert comes with the said news of Kris heading back to his ‘Old Home Place’ so this may well be your last chance to see the Port Hillbillies in their current form. Come along and make this concert a memorable send off to our awesome friend.
