Hillbilly Hoedown – Barndance/Ceilidh 11th July 2021
Brought to you by Gary Elford, supported by the Port Hillbillies and Andrew Redepenning.
The music was cheerful and lively, jeans and plaid adorned the room, Appalachian and Bluegrass rhythms intertwined with jigs, reels, polkas and waltzes, and the packed room danced, with smiles, laughter and a great sense of fun.
Gary added his sense of fun into the night, with his cheerful banter encouraging those on the dancefloor, solidly guiding them in the steps and patterns of the dances in a most inspiring and motivating style.
There were times to catch a rest and listen to the soulful vocals of Steve Stern who ably provided a number of solo tunes to break the night, and share his austere lonesome sounds, and give the dancers a much-needed water break.
