We are grateful that Phil and Abigail have agreed to step in to give us a concert this Sunday after receiving news that Liz Braggins is unwell, Liz’s concert has been postponed to next year.
Phil Doublet is a multi-award-winning artist/musician and is no stranger to the music scene for 4 decades. He has been playing in bands since the tender age of 11 and became sort after as a session player and touring musician, and more recently as a Producer for recording projects from Europe, the U.S.A., Australia and New Zealand. Not to mention, as a solo performer.
Phil is a staunch advocate for original music in Christchurch by starting the Songwriters in the Round shows
Phil is the 2014 NZCMA Country male artist of the year. He has 5 charted albums to his credit. And 8 number 1 singles. Including being nominated for NZ country artist of the year 2 times.
Phil’s latest album, ‘The Journeyman’, was released in 2022 with the #1 single ‘Interstate of Mind’
And most recently 2025 CMAA Gold Guitar finalist for his latest instrumental release, ‘Kill Devil Road’
Support Act
Abigail Chessum is a local soul and jazz singer and guitarist. Widely known across the Canterbury region for her local live sets, original music and collaborative work within the Kiwi indie music scene.
Doors open 7pm. Performance starts at 7.30pm,
VENUE: Irish Society Hall, 29 Domain Terrace, Spreydon The hall is situated up the long driveway, directly next to Domain Park, and there is plenty of well-lit off-street parking..
How do I get tickets to concerts?
In advance: Book your tickets online. Select the concert you wish to attend and click on the link to book your ticket.
On the day: Purchase tickets at the venue from 7:15pm on the day of the concert if not sold out prior.
PLEASE BRING CASH For: Tea, coffee, biscuits and cake available during the break and the club raffle. Bar facilities for cold refreshments throughout the night, Eftpos available for purchases only, no cash-out facility.
Folk Club and Irish Society members please remember to bring your membership card for licensing purposes. Non-members sign in at the bar if making purchases.
