Christchurch Musicians Club

- Students (with ID) $5
It is with much pleasure and anticipation that on Sunday 5 July The Folk Club hosts our cousins
from The Christchurch Musician’s Club, to put on a musical variety performance showcasing a
selection of local talent. Four separate acoustic based acts will deliver a veritable banquet of
tunes across the musical spectrum, from smooth jazz through to pop, blues, country, classics,
originals and quirky numbers you wouldn’t expect.
“Ashley & Roger Duo”
Roger Hanson and Ashley Clarke performed together many years ago in the local Band “Affirmation”. Both have extensive experience performing across many musical genres, Roger as a guitarist and bass player, Ashley, lead vocalist and front man. Ashley recently concluded a 5-year professional stint of singing on cruise ships throughout Europe and the Pacific. Ashley and Roger will provide their own interpretations of classic popular songs across several genres
“Cathy & Roger Walker”
Introducing Cathy & Roger – a husband-and-wife duo. Roger on guitar and Cathy providing vocals and percussion. They are a fun and entertaining team, performing with energy and an eclectic mix of rock and pop tunes. Hailing from the UK, you can expect some flavour of British songs in their repertoire.
“The Antennas Duo”
The Antennas are a duo of Anthony Smit and Arnie Lafeur. They have been refining themselves into a capable and sort-after acoustic act. The two guitarists have been gaining popularity with an attractive selection of songs, solid vocals and a blend of rhythm and lead guitar that combine to produce a big sound.
“The Meaniez Duo”
Guitarist Brian Clarke and bassist Brent Cain are 2/3rds of Otautahi Pub Rockers, The Meaniez Band. When not playing with the full band, they are often moonlighting on the busking scene in a stripped-down acoustic format, playing stuff unusual and well off the beaten track. Sometimes they could almost be mistaken for a comedy act masquerading as musicians, but they’re talented, fun and always entertaining. It is possible that they may also feature a wild card singer for this show.
Doors open 7pm. Performance starts at 7.30pm,
VENUE: Irish Society Hall, 29 Domain Terrace, Spreydon The hall is situated up the long driveway, directly next to Domain Park, and there is plenty of well-lit off-street parking..
