The Grainstore Sessions Tour,The Mitchel Family

Saturday 10th October 2020   Jenny Mitchell was on the road for the first time with a new show featuring her sisters, Nicola and Maegan, and Dad – Ron Mitchell. Jenny, Nicola, Maegan and Ron Mitchell concluded the first part of their South Island tour at the Christchurch Folk Music Club. The week together had them in fine fiddle, a tight harmonic group that shone on stage, the familial connection of love shone through on stage. It was evident that these three sister’s appreciated the opportunities that having a musical father and extra supportive mother have offered them. They have blossomed and it genuinely showed that this tight family is built on support and love. This relaxed atmosphere, started at the front desk where mum Julie met people with a gentile hospitality. Jenny was warm and honestly thankful to her audience for their support and attendance. Jenny authentically praised her sisters for their contributions to the road trip, letting us into some secrets about their lives together that engaged the audience. A real tribute to Ron, AKA Dad, was the song “This guitar”, that a guitar offers her the ability to tell her life story, process her feelings and share giving tribute to her dad for this role model for the love of music and life skill. A truly mesmersing concert, as shown by the sell out audience a very popular night for the Mitchell family and for the Christchurch Folk Music Club who have enjoyed the opportunity to watch this young artisan develop into the beautiful soulful performer that she is.
