The Long and Short of it: Danny Tawhiti and Iain Mitchell
21st July 2019
We welcoming back Mitch (Iain Mitchell) to the Christchurch Folk Club, he has treaded our boards before, as well as being a hard working President and committee member of the club. Mitch has been singing British Celtic music semi-professionally since he was twelve.
Danny showed his extremely gifted talents as a guitarist to the fore, working in conjunction with Mitch they both blend their skills into an experience that brought back many nostalgic memories of previous incarnations at the club for many.
Mitch thought it was about three years ago when he last performed at the club, “when Russell was in charge” he said. It has been a long wait to be entertained by Mitch’s humour as Russell was at the helm seven years ago.
They presented a mixture of Trad, acoustic blues and other stuff with some of it taken from their new album: “The Long and the Short of it.” This was all interspersed between witty repertoire and obvious respect for each other, musically and friendship wise.
May it not be another eight years before we are given the opportunity to enjoy these two entertaining performers.
